Lisa (Alicia) Byrd Murphy passed away the morning of March 17, 2024. She was born in Marion, VA on July 11, 1956, to the late Charles Glenn and Mary Lou Byrd. Lisa will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her as a selfless caregiver, a faithful servant of Christ and a lover of life. She is survived and remembered by her husband of 40 years, Jerry as a loving wife; her son Wesley as the greatest momma in the whole wide world; her older brother, Larry (Carolyn) Byrd as the most caring person and their children Tom (Tonya) Byrd and Justin Byrd; her older sister, Marcia (Ron) Medlin as her sister and best friend; her niece Julia (Bradley) High and her two children, Brendan and Bryson, as her spunky aunt and their other grandmother; her nephew, Ben (Megan) Medlin and his four children, Merit, Archer, Patton and Hank, as his favorite aunt.
Lisa lived a life of service, working as a social worker with children throughout her career, a volunteer coordinator for Hospice in Caldwell County, and a youth minister at her church in High Point. She cared for numerous family members as they grew older in life and dealt with sickness.
In life, Lisa never met a stranger and always had music running through her heart. She is now singing with her mother! She had a special love for the beach and enjoyed many visits there with family and friends.
We invite those who shared the joy of knowing Lisa to a celebration of life visitation at Alexander Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and a graveside service at Taylorsville City Cemetery on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Baptist Children's Homes of Caldwell County.
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:10-12
