Alma Sue Helton

Alma Sue Helton, age 88, of Granite Falls, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Trinity Village of Hickory. She was born on September 3, 1928 , in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Alonzo Hollister Pope and Savannah Walker Pope. She was a member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. Alma was self employed in the hosiery industry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Andrew Helton, five brothers and six sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are four sons: Jeff Helton of Granite Falls, Frank and Mike Helton of Hickory, and Shawn Overcash of Taylorsville; three daughters Brenda Moretz and LaRue Smith of Hickory and Wendy Taylor of Lenoir; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandaughter,

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27 at 1:00 until 2 pm at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. The service will begin at 2:00pm at Dudley Shoals Baptist with the Rev. Don Ingles officiating. Burial will follow in the Dudley Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.
