Angell Norine Barnes

March 11, 1935 — June 9, 2020

Angell Norine Barnes, age 85 of Taylorsville passed away on June 9, 2020 at her residence with her children by her side. Born to the late John Henry and Ida Pearl Burgess Brown in Alexander County. During her working career, Angell worked as a social worker for the Alexander County Social Services. Angell was a member at Little River Baptist Church, loved to travel, sang with the Singing Seniors, but most of all she loved spending time and being with her family and her grandbabies.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Roy Neil Barnes, sisters, Pauline Orren and Mozelle Brown, infant brother, Atwell Brown, infant sister, Odena Brown and, a “special friend” Barbara Rogers.
Those left to cherish the memories of Angell include her daughter, Kim Barnes Lackey (Scott), son, Stuart Barnes(Dean) of Taylorsville, son, Derek Barnes(Joyce) of Port St. Lucie Florida, sister, Rita Bischer (JC) of Asheboro, grandchildren, Melissa Hurtado, Brian Lackey, Brittney Herman, Brandon, Brett, Dustin, Eliana and Diamond Barnes, great-grandchildren, Caleb Hurtado, Grace and John Henry Herman, Brittany, Colby and Claire Barnes. Special nephew, Rickey Brown (Melony) along with a number of nieces and nephews. Angell also leaves behind her special friends, Mary Watts, Shirley Mitchell, Helen Mecimore, Sue Daniels, and Charles Rogers whom she loved as a brother. and many more, too many to mention
Funeral service for Ms. Barnes will be held at Little River Baptist Church on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 3:00 pm, burial will follow in the Little River Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Brett and Brandon Barnes, Brian Lackey, Dustin Barnes, Robert Herman, Caleb Hurtado. Honorary pallbearers, Rickey Brown, Darren Rogers, Ray Walker and Sidney Bowman.
Rev. Jeff Chapman will be officiating.
After the completion of the services, the family gathered in the Little River Church fellowship hall.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Carolina Caring 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658 or to the Gideon's International, PO Box 517, Taylorsville, NC 28681
