Annalene Pennell Austin,

Annalene Pennell Austin, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October17th, 2011 at Catawba Valley Hospice.  She was born on August 13th, 1931 in Caldwell County. She was the daughter of the late Grover and Estelle Poarch Pennell.  She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and was a homemaker with a great love for her 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd P. Austin; brothers: Samuel, Kelly, and Clevie Pennell; son-in-law, Rusty Sigmon; daughter, Carolyn A. Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Rose Austin.  Those left to cherish her memory include 1 son, James C. “Jimmy” Austin of Taylorsville; daughters: Jane Drum & husband Allen of Granite Falls, Connie Sigmon of Taylorsville, and Pam Brittain & husband Paul of Bethlehem.  She also leaves behind grandsons: Jeremy Baker & wife Shelly, Jason Baker, Mark Austin & wife Marissa, Shannon Austin, Stephen Anderson & wife Kelsey, Justin Austin & wife Miranda, and Xavier Brittain; granddaughters: Adrienne Hampton & husband Ben, Dana Helton & husband Zack, Lauren Austin, and Hillary Sigmon, in addition to numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Hill Pennell & wife Bessie; sister, Mary Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends: her pastor, Rev. Eddie Jolly; Linda Reid, John Hall & Betty Echerd, Mary Watts, James & Martha Brown, Roger Enloe, Ollie Bell Austin, Brenda Jones, and many others… The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, October 20th, from 5 – 7:00 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Service.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21st, at Lebanon Baptist Church in Taylorsville at 3:00 P.M. where Rev. Eddie Jolly, Rev. Keith Childers, and Rev. Grady Blakely will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Annalene’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence @ 580 DG Echerd Road in Taylorsville.  In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Valley Hospice @ 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, 28658 (OR) to the American Heart Association @ 222 South Church St. Charlotte, 28202.  Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
