Anthony Christopher Barnes, age 21, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 in Wake Forest Baptist Med. Ct. Born June 12, 1995, to Tresa A. Barnes, he was of the Baptist faith. Anthony was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Herbert and Gladys Hart and Philo and Vertie Isenhower, as well as grandparents, Richard Isenhower and Betty Jean White. Anthony was an avid race fan, and could be found at the Hickory Motor Speedway as a crew member and spotter for local race teams. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Anthony was a member of the Navy ROTC at Alexander Central High School and graduated in 2013. He is survived by his mother, Tresa of the home. He is cherished by one sister, Nicole Barnes of the home. He has one niece and one nephew, Ava Marie Barnes and Logan Reid Blair, both of Taylorsville. Two aunts survive, Charlene Staton and husband John, of Maiden, as well as Wanda Coleman and husband, James of Claremont. He has one uncle, David Hicks of Connolly Springs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville, with services following at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Alan Huffman of NCN Ministries will officiate. Memorials may be made to NCN Ministries, 575 Cape Hickory Rd. Hickory, NC, 28601.
