Arnold Lee Jewell,

Mr. Arnold Lee Jewell, age 74, of Statesville, passed away at his residence on Tuesday April 23, 2013, following a period of declining health. Born July 9, 1938 to the late Millard Lee and Bertha Adams Jewell in Chattaroy, WV, he was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jewell was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a coal miner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Jewell. Arnold is survived by two sons; David Jewell of Statesville, and Arnold Lee Jewell Jr. of Paintsville, KY. He also has three sisters; Deborah Teague of Bethlehem, Millie Garnes of Lenoir, and Barbara Chaffin of Hudson. Mr. Jewell is also survived by one brother - Millard Jewell of Williamson, WV, and three grandchildren - David "Allen" Jewell who served as his grandfather's caregiver, and Savannah Jewell both of Statesville, as well as   Keith Jewell of Paintsville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April, 25, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville, from 1:30 pm   to  3:00 pm.   Funeral services will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Rev. Gary Jennings officiating.  Military honors will be afforded by  DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville and DAV Chapter 6 of Hudson.
