Avery Paige Jenkins, age 72, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, August 30th, 2010 at his home.  He was born in Taylorsville to parents Avery Jay and Irene Fincannon Jenkins on February 1st, 1938.  He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church where he served as a bell-ringer and door-greeter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanean Jenkins Cline & husband Escar; and his father and mother-in-laws: R.D. & Lundia Kerley.  Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alta Mae Kerley Jenkins of the home; their children: Debbie Adams & husband Jerry of Wilkes County, Patty Carrigan & husband Jeffery, Vickie McAlpin & husband David, and Tracy Jenkins – all of Taylorsville.  Also surviving him is his brother, Larion W. Jenkins & wife Arletta of Statesville; sister, Milledean Jenkins Miller & husband Ronnie of Taylorsville; grandchildren: Roger Russell, Dashia Jenkins; Jody & Shannon Carrigan, and Tanner and Taylor McAlpin; 5 great-grandchildren: Ethan and Ashton Carrigan, Serena Russell, and Landon and Anika Carrigan – all of Taylorsville.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31st at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 1st, at 6:00 P.M. at White Plains Baptist Church where the Rev. Tony Daniels will officiate. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Roger Kerley, Rodney Miller, Lonnie Cline, Randy and Ronnie Yow, Mack Fox, Ralph Herman, Dean Jenkins, Wayne Jenkins, Dennis Smith, Jerry Hayes, and Lindsey Herman. Alexander Funeral Service is caring for the Jenkins family.
