Avery "Tracy" Jenkins, age 46, of Taylorsville, passed away in Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, on Monday, February 23, 2015, following a period of declining health. Born to Avery Paige and Alta Mae Kerley Jenkins, on May 11, 1968 in Alexander County, he was employed by Carrigan and Sons Trucking of Taylorsville. Tracy was a member of White Plains Baptist Church and was a avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was a hard worker who took pride in what he did.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a uncle, Larion Jenkins.
He is survived by his mother and his wife, of one very happy year, Crystal Hand Jenkins, of the home. He will be cherished by a daughter, Dashia Jenkins of Hiddenite, as well as three sisters: Patty Carrigan and husband Jeffrey, Vickie McAlpin and husband David, all of Taylorsville and Debbie Adams and husband Jerry of Wilkesboro. He has a number of nieces and nephews. He has a special friend and cousin, Patrick "Pete" Fox.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, February, 24, 2015 at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
