Barbara "Bob" Diane Bowman Hollar, age 78, of Taylorsville, known for her dedication to her family and her quick wit and honesty, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County. Born on September 7, 1945, to the late Prater Lee and Dora Walker Bowman, Barbara lived a fulfilling life surrounded by the love of family and friends.
In her career Barbara worked as a sewer. Outside of work she enjoyed drawing, painting, and camping. Her artistic spirit shone through in all aspects of her life.
Barbara's proudest accomplishments revolved around her role as a homemaker and the deep love she had for her family. She was a pillar of strength and unwavering support for those she held dear. Her kindness and warm presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Raised in the Christian faith, Barbara attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in her childhood and other Baptist Churches as an adult, grounding her values in love and compassion.
Along with her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, James "Ray" Bowman, and two nephews, Chris Cline and Doug Bowman. She is survived by her three sons; Eddie Hollar (Shanna), David Hollar (Shena), Eric Prater Hollar (Kelly); sister Mert Bowman Cline (Larry); grandchildren Jason Hollar, Kyle Hollar (Cassie), Kevin Hollar, Bodie Hollar, Josie Hollar, great-grandchildren Will Hollar and Elizabeth Hollar; sister-in-law Charlotte Harris Bowman; nieces Rita Craig, Sherrie Preslar and April Johnson.
A Memorial Service to honor Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Service. The service will commence at 1:00 pm followed by time to fellowship and remember Barbara's life. Pastor Nick Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alexander Hospice at 50 Lucy Echerd Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
In loving memory of a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Barbara's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
