Benson Herbert Davis, a beloved family man of Taylorsville, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on December 25, 1928, Benson dedicated his life to both his profession and his family leaving behind a legacy of love, and commitment.
With a successful career spanning his entire life, Benson worked as a technician in the textiles industry, demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication to his job. His colleagues and friends often admired his skill and knowledge, qualities that he exemplified throughout his career.
Benson was a devoted member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. His steadfast faith was evident through his active involvement within the church community, where he proudly served as a deacon. He had a profound impact on those around him, embodying the spirit of service and kindness that is foundational to the church’s mission. Benson enjoyed a variety of hobbies, which included golfing and traveling. He proudly visited all 50 states along with several countries, experiencing the beauty and diversity of the world, a testament to his adventurous spirit.
Benson was preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 65 years, Frances Lail Davis, as well as his daughter Kay Frances Davis, and granddaughter Tiffany Dawn Davis. He also reunites with his parents, John Miles Davis and Mabel Davis, his brother John Davis Jr., and sister Helen White.
He is survived by his two sons, Benson Hebert Davis Jr. and his wife Jo-Ann, and Bruce Alan Davis and his wife Anita. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren, Stephanie Renee Harrington and husband Chris, Garrison Davis and wife Lauren, and Sarah Davis Jones and husband JP, who will carry his memory in their hearts. His love extended to his six great-grandchildren, Will and Grant Harrington, Dixon and Maxton Davis, Ada and Behr Jones, with whom he shared a special bond.
A graveside service will be held on September 15, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Dan Spears will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather at this special event to celebrate the life and memory of Benson Herbert Davis, a remarkable man who touched the lives of many.
