Berlene Lail Jarvis

Berlene Lail Jarvis, age 90, of the Bethlehem Community, passed away at her residence, on Dec. 25, 2016. Born to the late Mack Daniel and Minnie Bell Parlier Lail in Caldwell County on April 26, 1926, she was lifelong a member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church and was a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class. Berlene was a graduate of Oak Hill High School in Lenoir, NC where she was a champion basketball player. She was retired from Ellis Hosiery Mill following thirty years of service.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Basil Jarvis, brothers Perry J. "Pete" Lail, Junior A. "Buster" Lail and Harold D. Lail.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ronnie R. Jarvis and wife Sherry of Granite Falls, son, Steven R. Jarvis of Taylorsville. One step-daughter, Mrs. Hazel Carroll and husband John of Pleasant Garden, NC. She is also survived by granddaughter Carol D. Jarvis, of Granite Falls, grandson, Daniel S. Jarvis and wife Linda of Holly Ridge, NC. One step granddaughter, Mrs. Martha Jones and husband Keith of Pleasant Garden, NC. Great-granddaughter, Sheree L. Jarvis of Granite Falls as well as step great-granddaughter Whitney Jones Sluder and husband Tommy, of Pleasant Garden, NC. Sisters, Catherine L. Hefner of Bethlehem and Mary L. Teague of Florida. Sister-in-law, Sarah B. Lail of Hudson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in the Fellowship Hall at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church from 10:00- 11:00 am. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church at 11:00 am officiated by Reverend Don W. Ingle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
