Bertha Adams Jewell,

Bertha Adams Jewell, age 94, of the Bethlehem Community, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the residence of her daughter Millie Garnes. She was born on July 5, 1918 to the late James Lee and Susie Chafin Adams. Bertha was a member of Huntington Hills Church of God in Hickory. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, cooking and sewing. Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Lee Jewell; her brothers and sisters; and her grandson, Brian Jewell. Those left to cherish her memory include her five children, Lee Jewell, of Statesville, Millie Garnes and Barbara Chaffin, of Lenoir, Millard "Mid" Jewell, of Williamson, WV and Debbie Teague, of Bethlehem. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Huntington Hills Church of God in Hickory and the service will follow at 12:00 pm with Rev. Chris Music and Rev. Nathan Teague officiating. A private family burial will follow.
