Betty Lou Stansel Bumgarner, age 85, born on Tuesday, May 2, 1939, in Cleveland County, passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. A member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Betty embodied the values of love and service that characterized her life.
Betty was a beloved mother to her children, Rita Bumgarner, Rex Bumgarner (Karen), Christy Bumgarner (Kelly), and Todd Bumgarner (Tracy). She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Kevin Wyatt, Zach Bumgarner (Leah), Ethan Bumgarner (Rebecca), and Reece Moose (Cody), as well as a cherished great-grandmother to Elixa Wyatt, with another great-grandchild on the way. Betty also embraced her role as a step-grandmother to Brooke Travis (Keith), Courtney Day, and step-great-grandmother to Cooper Travis, Tegan Scronce, and Knoxton Deal, showering them all with affection.
Her memories are rich with love for her family, particularly for her grandchildren, whom she adored and dedicated her time caring for. Betty had a passion for watching westerns and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's ballgames, where her enthusiasm and support were boundless. Her spirit will also be fondly remembered by her extended family, which includes her beloved nephews, Rick and Mike Stancil, and a special friend Kimberly Marlowe, who brought joy to her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Paskle and Myrtle Willis Stansel, her husband Roy Barnes Bumgarner, her sister Thelma Warren, and brothers Jack, Gene, Bob, and Mac Stansel.
In honor of Betty’s life, visitation services will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Service from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Zach Deal will officiate. Rex Bumgarner, Christy Bumgarner, Todd Bumgarner, Zach Bumgarner, Ethan Bumgarner, Cody Moose, and Kevin Wyatt will be pallbearers.

Betty's legacy of love, commitment to family, and her unwavering faith will continue to be celebrated and cherished by all who knew her.
