Betty Jane Starnes Dyson

Betty Jane Starnes Dyson, age 69, passed away on January 10, 2025, in Catawba County, North Carolina. Born on January 27, 1955, Betty's life was richly woven with both professional achievements and vibrant personal interests.

 Betty forged a successful career in the furniture business, where she worked as a finisher. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was also known for her boundless interests; Betty enjoyed exploring flea markets, working with wood, and spending weekends watching her favorite show, Yellowstone. A true lover of life’s pleasures, she also cherished her time spent at the movies with her sister and driving her truck.

 Betty's family meant the world to her. She is survived by her son, Bruce Michael Dyson; her sister, Sheila Brown (Danny); and her brother, James "Sonny" Starnes (Leticia). Additionally, her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Josh Spain and Jacob Spain, along with a number of nieces and nephews who will deeply miss her warmth and guidance.

 Betty joins her parents, Bruce Richard Starnes and Elsie Mae Baker, in eternal rest. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Maynard Dyson; her daughter, Kristy Matthews; and her sisters, Brenda Smith and Kathy Drum.

 A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM, both taking place at Shiloh Lutheran Church, located at 1011 Shiloh Church Road, Hickory, NC 28601.

 Betty Jane Starnes Dyson will be remembered not only for her talents and accomplishments but also for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her spirit and memories will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
