She attended grade school at Buzzard Run and graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1944. Betty Harrington is probably best remembered as the warm, friendly, smiling face greeting patients and friends at Dr. Robert Grants dentist office, where she worked for 30 years. After retirement Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was skilled in all types of sewing and needlework including: quilting, drapery, dressmaking, crochet and cross-stitch. She and niece, Clara designed and made costumes for Christmas plays at Bethel Baptist Church. Betty was a great cook and loved using old timey recipes. Great granddaughter, Katlyn said, "Nanny made the best biscuits and banana pudding and gave the best back scratches." Betty enjoyed collecting family history, cookbooks, plates of any kind, and fabric. Dearly loved by her nieces, "Aunt Betty" enjoyed spending time with them canning fresh vegetables in the summer and giving helpful advice on the "right" way to do whatever task they were on at the time. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty was a long time member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church where she was active in many ministries including the Auditorium Sunday School Class and Senior Adult Ministry. Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Max J. Harrington, whom she married on September 6, 1947; an infant sister; one brother, Perry Bentley; three sisters - Edna Kerley, Christine Childers and Maxing Munday and a son-in law, Will Butt.
