Betty Lorraine Long, age 91, of Taylorsville, NC passed away at her residence on Monday, July 6, 2015. Betty was born on January 22, 1924 to the late Joseph Hansford and Laura Alice McHale Riffe, in Kentucky. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Post Master for the U.S. Postal Service in Sundial, WV.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert P. Long, three brothers, one sister, and a grandson Charlie Clay.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory six children; Bill Ballard, of Jacksonville, AR, Judy Daniels, of Auburndale, FL, Peachie Cantley, of Clemmons, NC, Bob Long, of Whitesville, WV, Tammy Long and Dianne Pigg, both of Taylorsville, NC, fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one sister in law Mary Riffe, of Catawba, NC, and a number of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, WV. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville, WV. The family requests that in addition to flowers memorials be made to Catawba County Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658
