Betty Pearl Payne Starnes, also known as “Mim” age 88 of Taylorsville passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Born to the late George Washington and Emma Sue Flowers Payne of Rowan county, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church, a home maker, a mother of nine children, enjoyed flowers, growing and canning vegetables from her garden.
In addition to her parents, “Mim” was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Coolidge Starnes, one daughter Judy Teague, two infant siblings, sister Kathrine Carter, grandson Jason Starnes, great-grandson Jamie Elder, great-great-grandson Kayden Vanover and son-in-law Steve Grant.
Those left to cherish the memories of Mim include, four daughters, Sue Starnes and Doris Bolton of Conover, Gail Scott of Claremont, Mary Jo Grant of Stony Point, four sons, Jerry Starnes of the home, Junior, Cecil, and Larry Starnes of Taylorsville, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one expected great-grandchild and one great-great grandchild, one sister Alma Jean Payne of Hudson along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Starnes will be held on Sunday, November 10th, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service with a private graveside service following at the family cemetery.
