Betty Sue Thomas , 86 of Taylorsville, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Betty was born to Ray and Nola (McAlpin) Norton on Saturday, December 29, 1928. Betty spent her early years working on the family farm in Stony Point, NC. As a young woman she enjoyed playing basketball. Betty married Richard J. Williams and together they had two sons. Richard passed away in January of 1959. Betty later married Ralph J. Thomas and together they raised the children. Ralph passed away in May of 2000.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing. Betty was a renowned cook, who expressed her love for family and friends by serving them meals. It was not unusual for Betty's home to be filled with people enjoying a delicious meal together. Betty's love for her family could only be surpassed by her love for Jesus Christ. Betty was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church in Taylorsville, where she formerly served as a Sunday school teacher.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nola (McAlpin) Norton, Husbands Richard J. Williams (Jan. 1959) and Ralph J. Thomas (May 2000), brothers- Jerry Norton and Dale Norton, sister- Doris Wilcox, daughter in law- Lynn Williams, and great grandson Isaac Brown.

Betty is survived by her loving family, sons- Ronnie G. Williams Sr. of Sawmills, NC and Charles R. Williams and wife Louise of Taylorsville, NC. Siblings- Bob Norton of Lebanon, TN, Nell Caldwell of Edgewood, MD, Martha Jane (RC) Cutlip of Kingsville, MD, Mack (Lorine) Norton of Stony Point, NC and Barry (Tammy) Norton of Taylorsville, NC. Grandchildren- Ronnie (Michele) Williams Jr. of Taylorsville, NC, Yvette (Smsgt. Ronald) Kunce of Korea, Crystal Johnson of Kokomo, IN, Ronda Johnson of Statesville, NC, Richard Williams of Newton, NC, Cathy (Jimmy) Brown of Taylorsville, NC, Michele (Greg) Foster of Taylorsville, NC, and Jefferson (Christina) Williams of Taylorsville, NC. Great-Grandchildren-Randall (Holly) Williams, Roxanna (Shane) Harrington, Ryan Williams, Janice "Kim" Baldwin, Andrew Baldwin, John M. Johnson lll, Charlotte Johnson-Kelley, Charlene Johnson, Cybil Johnson, Austin Williams, Pressley Williams, Christopher (Brooke Hayes) Brown, Chelsie Ellis, and Logan Ellis. Great-Great-Grandchildren- Cheyenne Williams, Briar Williams, Esau Williams, Eden Harrington, Olivia Baldwin, Journie Johnson, Colton Johnson-Thatcher, Carter Kelley, Hogan Irish, and Finley Johnson. Special Friends- Eric, Kim, Alyssa, and Tayler Bumgarner She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephew..

Visitation is will be Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6:30- 8:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Beulah Baptist Church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Liberty Methodist in Hiddenite, NC. The family asks that donations be made to Beulah Baptist Church 336 Black Oak Ridge Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681
