Beulah Mae Autrey, age 90, of Taylorsville, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday morning, October 30th, 2011. She was born on July 2nd, 1921 in Watauga County to parents Colonel and Ethel Greene Storie. Beulah was a 1940 graduate of the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton. She lived her life as a generous homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Ralph Autrey; her sister, Anna Lea Canipe; 2 brothers: Roma Storie and Wayne Storie; and 1 grandson: Todd Dennis Moose. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jimmy Ray Autrey & wife Patricia of Hickory; 3 daughters: Peggy Billings & husband Stoney of Taylorsville, Lois Mitchell of Lenoir, and Bonnie Autrey of Hildebran; 3 sisters: Maggie Freeman, Charlotte Overby, and Dorothy Winkler. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; in addition to a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be conducted on Wednesday, November 2nd, at Alexander Funeral Service from 5:30 – 7 P.M. A Memorial Service will follow inside the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel where Rev. Buford Pennell will officiate. Internment will follow at a later date.
