Billy Gray Willard, age 65, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly at his residence after a period of illness on Friday, Mar. 9, 2012. Born July, 15, 1946, to the late Robert Lee and Dorothy L. Southard in Yadkin Co. NC, he was a carpenter and was employed by Terry O’Brian Co. in Statesville, and Daniels Woodcarving. He was preceded by two brothers, J.T and Gary Wayne Willard and one sister Alma Jane Holbrook. Billy loved Bluegrass and Gospel music and making music with his friends. He love to fish and work with anything wood. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Coffee Willard of the home. One son, Phillip Grey Liles, of Hayes NC, as well as four stepsons: Michael Bath of Slydale, La., Jeff Bath of Baltimore, Maryland, Scott Bath of Taylorsville, NC and Jimmy Bath of Holly, Minnesota, ; two stepdaughters, Michelle Mundy, of Taylorsville, and Gale Marie Stroubuch, of Huricon, Wis. Billy has 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is survived as well by one brother, Robert “Bobby” H. Willard and wife Brenda of Harmony, NC. He has a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, Mar. 12, 2012 from 1-2:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service with funeral services in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Webb officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Childress, Alan Gregory, Jeff Bath, Dwayne Salmons, Scott Bath, and Jerry Childress. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville is serving the Willard family.
