Bobby Jack Simmons, age 68, of Granite Falls, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Hospice of Caldwell County in Granite Falls. Bobby was born December 2, 1943 to the late Robert Lee and Dolly Wilcox Simmons in Tennessee. He served in the US Army in 1969 during the Vietnam War and then transferred to the USAR until 1972 when he was honorable discharged. Mr. Simmons had spent the majority of his life working as an upholster in the furniture industry. He loved Nascar, Chevy's and was a loyal Dale Earnhart Jr. fan. He also was a big fan of western movies. Bobby had made his home in the Lenoir Living Center for the last seventeen years. He attended Temple Baptist Church in Granite Falls. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Auton and one brother Elmer Simmons. He is survived by one sister Patsy Simmons of Granite Falls and four nieces and four nephews. Bobby had a special friend Brenda Bolick of Hickory.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville with funeral services following in the funeral chapel at 5:30 pm. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Granite Falls. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and Military Honors will be provided by the DAV Chapter 84 of Taylorsville and Chapter 6 of Lenoir.
