Carl Swan Hand, age 87, born on Monday, March 22, 1937, in Burke County, was a man who treasured his family above all else and found immense joy in their company. His recent passing on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Taylorsville House in Alexander County has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Throughout his life, Carl was known for his strong work ethic and his passion for managing rental properties. However, it was his role within his family that truly defined him. He shared a deep love with his loved ones and made sure to nurture these relationships with love and care.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bonnie Cline Hand, as well as his wife Lois Mayrene Hand. He is also reunited with his brothers Lonnie, Paul, Hayden, Glenn, and Ned Hand, along with his sisters Linda Rogers and Myrtle Lail.
While Carl may no longer be with us, he leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by those he held dear. He is survived by his sons Tommy Hand and Danny Hand (Cindy), who will continue to honor his memory. Carl's grandchildren Danielle, Dustin, and Nicholas will fondly remember their grandfather, as will his four great-grandchildren. Additionally, Ethel Jones remains to cherish the moments shared with her brother.
A visitation to celebrate Carl's life will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm at Antioch Baptist Church. This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 4:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Morris will officiate. Doug Jones, Kevin Cline, Wesley Cline, Matt Moretz, Todd Alexander, and Ryan Turner will serve as pallbearers. Roger Jones, Chad Rogers, and Bryan Hand will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harry's Hands at Antioch Baptist Church, 580 Antioch Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681
In honoring Carl Swan Hand's memory, let us remember his dedication to family and hard work. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many and that his spirit lives on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
