Carolyn Ashby Cook age 77 of Granite Falls passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Valley Nursing Center. Carolyn was born to the late Francis B. and Virginia Underhill Ashby in North Hampton County, Virginia on August 12, 1937. She loved sewing, crocheting, listening to country music, and watching old westerns.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Alfred Huffman, and her brother Frankie Ashby.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her husband Glenard Lee Cook, one sister Ann Deisbeck of Earlysville, Virginia, three children Judith Ritch and husband Roger of Lenoir, Alfred W. Huffman of Hickory, Lori Mooney and husband Dale of Granite Falls, six grandchildren Adam Martin of Lenoir, Shonda Kiel of Otego, New York, Jennifer Ester of Taylorsville, April Huffman of Hickory, Laura Mooney of Granite Falls, Brandy Mooney of Hiddenite, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 1:00-2:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm in the Alexander Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. James D. Ritch officiating. Burial will take place in the Hiddenite cemetery. Pallbearers include Adam Martin, Steven Ester, Dale Mooney, James Ritch, Thomas Ritch, and Roger Ritch.
