Carolyn Mae Smith, age 83, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Iredell. She was born on Wednesday, April 30, 1941, in Alexander County.
Throughout her life, Carolyn exemplified warmth and love, always prioritizing spending quality time with her family. She took great joy in watching her grandchildren play ball, a testament to her nurturing spirit and deep commitment to family. Her legacy is not only in the memories shared but also in the bonds she fostered within her family.
Carolyn was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church, where she attended and engaged with her community with kindness and grace. In her leisure time, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including sewing, shopping, tending to her beloved flowers, and solving word searches and crossword puzzles, which brought her much joy.
Her warmth and zest for life will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Carolyn is survived by her loving son, Michael Smith, and his wife Kerry, as well as her treasured grandchildren: Kassidy Phinney, Kenzi Smith, Kade Smith, Kelbi Kerley and her husband Jaron, Trey Shook, Abigail Shook, and Peyton Shook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pleas and Geneva Fox Smith, and her siblings, brothers Allen and Robert Smith, and sister Brenda Little.
A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn's incredible life will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville, North Carolina at 6:00 pm. Rev. Tony Daniels will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
Carolyn Mae Smith leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by her family and friends for years to come.
