Carroll Dean Reid
November 18, 1946 - April 25, 2025
With a lifetime of memories stretching some 78 years, Carroll said goodbye to us on April 25, 2025.
Passing his formative years in the Oak Hill Community of Caldwell County, America summoned him in early 1966 into it's Army. After more than a year in the fields far away in Vietnam, the committed soldier returned home.
Returning to his former profession in the furniture industry, he straightaway met Diane, the love of his life, making their home in Alexander County with two sons completing their family.
Always with keen eyes for the next horse or mule, he and his beloved cousin, Terry, became well-known in the equine community, regularly attending shows and events right across the state and beyond.
After the loss of their oldest, Bradley, and with health challenges mounting, their youngest, Shawn, relocated from his long-time adopted home in Wilmington to attend to their care. Each and every day, this remarkable son put his best foot forward to smooth the lives of his parents, despite his own considerable disabilities.
He is survived by wife Diane and son Shawn, brother Don and wife Shirley their kids Bianca Money and Deidre Harrison, nephew Philip Watson, first cousin Terry Reid wife Julia and their daughter Juliane Reid
Preceded in death by son, Bradley, Reid, mother and father Odell, and Elva, Reid, sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Steve Watson
The family will receive friends at Alexander funeral home Monday April 28th from 6-8 pm.

May a grateful nation always remember his service, and may we, his family, be buoyed with happy memories of time well spent.
