Chalma Teague Clanton, age 86, of Taylorsville passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Catawba Hospice House. She was born on March 1, 1926 to the late William Brian and Nola Ann Hefner Teague. During her life, she worked at Lewittes Furniture as an inspector and attended First Baptist Church in Taylorsville. She loved to sit on her front porch and just enjoy the things around her. Including her parents, those that precede her in death include one sister Vivian Rufty; one son, William Rowe Clanton and one daughter, Brenda Ann Clanton Ferguson. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Barbara Clanton Miller of Taylorsville; one sister Nancy Ann "Tiny" Miller of Lenoir; three grandchildren - William Gene Coward of Tampa, Florida, Miste Coward Ferguson of Salisbury and James Ross "Jim" Ferguson of Taylorsville; five great grandchildren - Weston Rowe, Warren Tate and Sophia Pauline Ferguson, Logan Riley Coward and James Ross Ferguson III. She also had a number of nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Mrs. Chalma's life, a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Taylorsville. A graveside committal service will follow at Taylorsville City Cemetery with visitation at the graveside. Rev. Tim Marsh will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Building Fund @ 321 West Main Avenue, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
