Charles "Lynn" Brinkley,

Charles "Lynn" Brinkley, age 85, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Valley Nursing Center, in Taylorsville. Born, October 28, 1930, in Alexander County, to the late Charlie Independence and Marsha Stella Gwaltney Brinkley, he was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a professional truck driver for Carolina Freight Lines, having retired after 41 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Helen "Pat" King Brinkley, as well as sister Lorena Icenhour and brother, Harold Brinkley.
He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Swithenbank and husband Gene of Conover, and two sons, David Brinkley and wife, Darlene along with Charles Brinkley, all of Taylorsville.
He has three grandchildren, Joseph Swithenbank and wife Melissa of London, England, Kyle Brinkley, Megan Lively & husband James, both of Taylorsville. Two great grand children survive, Emma and Ada Lively, both of Taylorsville.
Lynn has two sisters to remember him, Carolyn Matheson, of Taylorsville, and Kathryn Hagwood of Chesapeake, Va. He has a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 2-3:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Taylorsville, with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at the church with the Revs. Dan Spears and Ervel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Matheson, Terry Payne, Dale Carrigan, Anthony George, Kenneth Mecimore, and Jeff Sharpe.
The family would like to thank the staff, caregivers, and residents of Valley Nursing Center for all the love, care, and support during the past few months.
