Charles Vaughn Broyhill Jr., age 61, of Conover, was taken home to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011. He was born on July 28th, 1949 in Iredell County. He was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School and Wilkes Community College. As long as his health allowed, Charles was an active member of Walnut Grove and later at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. He enjoyed serving as the church treasurer at Walnut Grove and as a Sunday school teacher and AWANA leader at East Taylorsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Vaughn Broyhill Sr. and Mildred Brookshire Broyhill; and a brother, Spencer Broyhill – all of Conover. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Krystal Powell Broyhill; and their sons: Michael Shane and Charles Holden Broyhill. Also surviving are his siblings: Betty Broyhill Williams of Rock Hill, SC, JoAnn Broyhill Green of Greensboro, and James Howard Broyhill of Moravian Falls. Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Dolores Broyhill Greer & her husband Wayne; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27th, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. A celebration of his life will be conducted on Saturday, May 28th, 2011 at East Taylorsville Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. where Rev. Jamie Steele will officiate. The procession to Sheets Cemetery in Laurel Springs for burial will follow. Rev. Kevin White will officiate at the graveside.
