Chiem Ian Saetern, born February 1, 1932, in Ban Nampa, Laos, longtime resident of Taylorsville and veteran sergeant of the Secret War led by the U.S. CIA passed peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones on January 20, 2022, at the Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Chiem is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Nai Liem Saetern, 3 sons, 3 daughter-in-laws, 7 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, 3 grandson-in-laws, 5 grand-daughter-in-laws,16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Chiem was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Vern Ta Ziew and May Chiow Saetern and his 5 sisters. During his free time, he enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, carving bamboo, fishing, and spending time with loved ones.
Visitation will be held Wednesday January 26, 2022, at Alexander Funeral Service from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 27, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Three Forks Baptist Church.
Dr. Carson Moseley will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations, the family asks that monetary donations be made to assist with funeral services to the family made payable to Cheng Saetern at 40 Iu Mein Dr, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
