Clifford Chapman Ferguson

June 22, 1934 — January 8, 2024

Clifford entered his heavenly home and eternal resting place on Monday, January 8, 2024. He was born Friday, June 22, 1934, to the late Floyd and Thelma Ferguson. He was a US Army veteran and retired from Bell South. On any summer day you could find Clifford at his house in his coveralls working or just doing what he loved - working in his garden, bagging up vegetables to be delivered to family and friends, mowing, picking up sticks and leaves in the fall, or just “gommin” around in the basement at his workbench. Clifford enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the produce stand where they played Rook several times a week in the evenings. In his younger years you could find him out at Brushy Mountain Golf course playing a round of golf with the guys that hung out there. He loved a good game on his iPad and always took a break for an occasional nap. To know him was to love him, a friend to all, a loving father, husband, and a man of the Lord.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Dagenhart, Rita Ferguson who died at birth; and his first wife, Dorothy “Dot” Ferguson.

He is survived by his wife Rachel Gilreath; children; Charles Ferguson, Reba Pennell, Alan (Teri) Ferguson, Debbie (Jim) Messer, and JoAnn Bean; stepson, Jim (Michelle) Gilreath; grandchildren, Hannah Pennell, Holly (Jamey) Sweet, Alanna (Andrew) Robinson, Grey Ferguson, Garon Bean, Luke Bean, Chandler Bean; step-grandson, Gil Gilreath; great-grandchildren; Jordyn Sweet, Elijah Sweet, and Cayson Bean; along with nieces, nephews & several cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church from 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm. The funeral service will be Friday, January 12, 2024, at Three Forks Baptist Church at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Carson Moseley will officiate. Chandler, Grey, Elijah, Luke, Garon, Eric Ferguson, David Bean, Dustin Queen, and Eugene White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Faith Sunday School Class.
