Colton Shane Canter, age 17, “went to take a little walk with Jesus”, on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010. Born Aug. 25, 1993, in Iredell Co. to Albert E. and Tammy Head Canter, he was a student at Alexander Central High School. Shane, thought disabled physically from birth, was very active in choral music programs at both East Jr. High and Alexander Central in Alexander County. Shane was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Atwell Canter and maternal grandparents Jack and Arnell Head. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-mother, Eva Lou Samson Canter, and one brother, Chris Canter of Taylorsville. One sister, Tiffany Canter, of Griffin Georgia, as well as one step-brother, Andy Alford of Hickory and one step-sister, Nicole Milsaps and husband Chuck of Hiddenite. Also left to cherish his memory is his paternal grandmother Beulah Canter, Uncles, Nicky, John and Preston Canter and Aunt Nicole Canter all of Taylorsville. He has one step aunt and uncle, Ilean and Rex Pauley. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, Oct. 25, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service, with funeral services on Tues. Oct. 26, at 4:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Randell Roberts will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rex Pauley, Chuck Milsaps, Andy Alford, Stephen Williams, Chris Canter, and his father, Albert Canter. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
