Connie Ann Harrington Steelman

Connie Ann Harrington Steelman, passed away at her home in Alexander County on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on Wednesday, February 3, 1943, in Alexander County, she dedicated much of her life to her career, working for many years at Walmart, where she created lasting connections with many colleagues who became like family to her. Connie cherished the time that she spent with her family and her Walmart family, making memories that will be forever treasured. She had a passion for crafting, baking, and reading, hobbies that brought her joy and highlighted her creative spirit.

She is survived by her daughter, Dara Steelman Wilkins; her granddaughter, Kennedy Moses; her brother, Billy Harrington (Thelma); her sister, Dawn Pless (Eric); as well as a number of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Roby and Lois Loudermilk Harrington; her son, Douglas Steelman; and her siblings: Lana Davidson, Darrell Harrington, Betty Tedder, and Brenda Kanipe. Additionally, she is preceded in death by her first grandchild, Cheyene Moses.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, followed by a family led funeral service at 2:00 pm, both at Alexander Funeral Service located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Inurnment will be with the family.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Connie’s caregiver, Lena Lail.

As we remember Connie, let us celebrate her life, the love she shared, and the legacy of compassion she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
