Conrad Ray Fox, age 83, of the Wittenburg Community, Taylorsville went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Alexander County on May 9, 1930 to the late Charlie and Margie (Carrigan) Fox. Before retirement, Conrad owned and operated Hwy 16 Superette, a family owned business since 1961. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Conrad was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and loved his church. It was his top priority and he was faithful to all activities.  Conrad enjoyed going to the beach, flea market, pawn shops and working on cars in the garage. He also loved spending time and playing with his dobermans: "Red and Blue." In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters: Nancy Hefner and Lois Icenhour; brother: JD Fox; sister-in-law: Joann Robinette and husband Herman and nephew: Phil Icenhour. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years: Jelene Frye Fox of the home; son: Tony Fox and wife Sheronda; daughters: Chandra Daniels and Vilas Reese and husband Ronnie; sisters: Betty Hefner and Faye Warlick all of Taylorsville; brother: Gary Fox and wife Diane of Georgia; grandchildren: Darrell Fox, Matthew Reese and wife Ashley, Shelly Fox and special friend Jason, Marissa Austin and husband Mark and Mikayla Reese and fiancé Dustin; great grandchildren: McCray Austin, MaKenna Austin and soon to be Victoria Reese; a number of nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends and business acquaintances throughout his life.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church. Service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Spears, Rev. Jeff Chapman, Rev. James Lockee and Rev. Bill Orren officiating. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Rev. Jamie Fox and Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church - Parking Lot Fund at 63 Macedonia Church Rd; Taylorsville, NC 28681.
