Daniel "Partee" Rector, 77, of Taylorsville went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30 at Valley Rehabilitation Center. Born in Alexander County on February 25, 1935 to the late Toye Poole and Nelle Matheson Rector. Partee was a professional driver for 46 years and drove for 26 years for Broyhill Furniture received the 1 Million Mile Accident Free Award. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he faithfully attended. He was also an avid Duke fan and a faithful supporter of the ACHS Basketball Program. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Wanda Walker Rector, of the home; one son - Danny Rector and wife Angela, of Newton; one daughter - Janet Sigmon and husband Charlie, of Taylorsville; three grandchildren - Brooke Sigmon, of Taylorsville, Evan Rector, of Winston-Salem and Sierra Winters, of Newton; one sister - Lucille Warren, of Taylorsville; one brother and sister-in-law - M.L. Walker and Myra Harding; several nieces and nephews, along with a number of close friends, to many to mention.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The service will be held on Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Safriet and Rev. Allen Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie-in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers are Doug Hamby, Tyler Cline, Mitch Walker, Ryan Barlow, Bradley Lackey and Corey Presnell.
