Danny Ray Childers, 63 of Taylorsville passed away in Catawba Valley Medical Center on Sunday, November 27, 2011. He was born in Wilkes County to the late Raymond F. and Kathryn Ruth (Mitchell) Childers on October 1, 1948. A United States Army Veteran, Danny served in Vietnam and had retired as an owner operator of Childers Lumber. He loved all things Chevrolet, and enjoyed antique cars, hunting, golfing, and working with the boys at Sigmon Motor Company. He was a member of Little River Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Pamela Jean Teague Childers of Taylorsville. Two daughters: Shea Chapman and husband, Jeff of Taylorsville; and Katie Windsor and husband, Lee of Conover. One sister: Robin Starnes of Bethlehem. Four grandchildren: Emma-Kate Elizabeth and Sawyer Alan Chapman of Taylorsville, and Kobe Luke and Analeigh Kate Windsor of Conover. His best friends were Charlie Sigmon and Donald Millsaps. Funeral services for Mr. Childers will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at Little River Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm. Rev. Jeff Chapman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Sigmon, Gary Sigmon, Dale Knight, Donald Millsaps, Ray Harding, and Mark Sigmon.
