Debbie Townsend Smart,

Deborah "Debbie" Townsend Smart, age 64, of Hickory, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Debbie was born to the late Charlie "Bud" and Tressie Austin Townsend on September 6, 1951 in Catawba County. Debbie was of the Baptist faith. She was a jig saw puzzle master, enjoyed boating, music, traveling, loved her family more than anything, and was a great cook. Debbie was employed by Fred's Super Dollar in Bethlehem. In addition to her parents Debbie was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Debbie leaves to carry on her legacy her loving husband of 34 years, Joey Norris Smart of the home, daughter Toni Annette Burke of Selinsgrove, PA, son Jonathan Neal Smart of Los Angeles, CA, two grandchildren: Hope Burke of Baltimore, MD, and Christian Burke of Selinsgrove, PA; sister Diane T. Sigmon & husband Neil of Bethlehem, nephew Van W. Sigmon of Anderson, SC, and niece Staci S. Ryan of Fredricksburg, VA, and a host of special friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 12:30-2:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Mark Morris officiating. Burial will take place at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers include: David Brady, Darrell Punch, Bobby Phillips, Thomas Belk, Van Sigmon, and Jonathan Cheek.
