Wayne dedicated a significant part of his life to his career, where he became known for hauling heavy equipment. His work ethic and dedication were evident during his time with Speaks Hauling, the company founded by his late son, Stony Speaks. Wayne's professional journey not only reflects his commitment to hard work but also highlights the pride he took in his family's endeavors.
A devoted family man, Wayne loved his family tremendously and cherished every moment spent with them, particularly his beloved grandchildren. Wayne found joy in being surrounded by his family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Wayne was a man of faith, a member of Lewis Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, though he had recently attended Calvary Baptist Church in Union Grove. His church family meant the world to him, and he expressed his devotion to God, often engaging with services online when unable to attend in person.
In addition to his family and faith, Wayne had diverse interests that enriched his life. He was a true cowboy at heart, finding great pleasure in working with horses. His adventurous spirit further led him to enjoy riding Harley motorcycles, pursuits that reflected his lively personality and love for the outdoors.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janie Speaks; his daughter, Angel Caldwell; his mother, Helen Speaks; his brother, Kenneth Speaks (Rita); daughter-in-law, Shanna Speaks who he loved as a daughter; grandchildren, Ryan Hurley, Dylan Speaks, Gage Caldwell, and Chandler Speaks; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Elijah, Zaney Ryn, Luke, Juddson, Bailey, Paisleigh, and Baby Speaks on the way; and a special friend, Kenny Meyerhoffer. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever remember his warm heart and lively spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.P. Speaks, son, Stony Speaks, father and mother-in-law, JD and Maggie Clark, and three sisters-in-laws.
Though Wayne will be deeply missed, his memories will continue to inspire and uplift his family and friends.
