Dewayne Horace Dyson, age 65, of Taylorsville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his residence. Born March 18, 1948 to the late Dewey Horace and Marie Ellen Dagenhart Dyson, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Dewayne owned his own business "Dyson Excavation" for 32 years. He was a lifelong member at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for 35 years and serving on the Building and Grounds Committee. He loved gardening, being around wildlife and was an avid bird watcher. Dewayne was known as "Dog's Best Friend" from all the dogs over the neighborhood. He also served as a Board of Director for the Wittenburg Fire Department. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years - Bonnie "Kaye" Hoyle, of the home; daughters - Tammy Fox and husband Delvin, of Vale; Holly Yongue and husband Philip, of Taylorsville and Carrie Dyson and Randal Whisenant, of Claremont; sister - Jill Jarrett and husband Dean, of Taylorsville; grandchildren - Zayne, Zoe and Zeb Fox, of Vale and Madelyn Yongue, of Taylorsville; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; a special friend - Steve Icenhour, who was like a brother and man's best friends - "Sadie and Allie."
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Schronce, Rev. Mark Robinette and Rev. Frank Hoyle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Phill Bowman, Eddie Rogers, Donnie Rogers, Rickey Dyson, Gary Dyson, Tim Martin, Ty Dyson, Mark Butler, Johnny Keever, Jeff Clyde Dyson, Kevin Payne and Clyde Dyson, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt. Herman Baptist Church @ Po Box 697, Taylorsville, NC 28681 or to the Wittenburg Fire Department @ 4756 Hwy 16 S, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
