Dixie Belle Odom, March 22, 2011 - March 24, 2025 blessed our family for fourteen years. The last few months you have suffered from dementia and wasn’t the girl we knew. You were confused and I feel often you weren’t aware of your surroundings. You came to us shortly after my dad passed away, but was born on his birthday. You had your first and only litter of thirteen puppies in a moon chair in Will’s room. You loved your brushing from your mom “Babs” and loved your massages from Anna. When through my darkest days, you would put your head in my lap and let me know you loved me and it would be okay. You loved your rides in my truck and getting honey buns. You always greeted us with a stick in your mouth and wanted to chase a ball. Wherever the grandkids were outside you were always with them. At night time you were persistent in being in your crate, the only place that no one but you entered. The only person you ever attempted to bite or get angry with were a few who were close to my truck without me or mom close by. The truck was for only you. You would ride for hours in the truck. Except last summer when you rode with me to Kentucky, I knew then that it upset you and you had basically taken your last ride. You were not happy and out of your comfort zone. When mom and I would come home and get out of the car, you would run down towards the woods and bark to scare away any critters or creatures that were not there, just letting us know you were looking after us. When we were away on vacation you loved your caretakers and your Uncle Harold bringing you cheeseburgers. You were kind to all people and even to your pet companions at home. You were a loyal part of our family and you were family. You will always have a special place in our hearts. You were my girl and I loved you more than any pet I have ever had. You were always by my side! Rest easy sweet girl! When I enter the pearly gates I know you will be there to greet me with a stick in your mouth! Because God puts pets in our life’s to make it better and all dogs go to heaven!
