Donald Robert Nance

Donald Robert Nance, age 85, a beloved figure in his community, was born on July 19, 1939, in Catawba County. He passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at Carolina Caring in Catawba County. Don was a man of faith, having been a former deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Throughout his life, Don was known for his devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren: Dillon Setzer, Kayla Jones, Jacob Nance, Will Nance, Masson Nance, Brandon Anderson, Crystal Nance, Daniel Nance, and great-grandchildren River Anderson, Brenden Trull, Cooper Riese, and Creighton Riese. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through them.

Don found joy in simple pleasures, often watching westerns and the popular show Law & Order, which added to the many memories that friends and family will carry with them. He will be remembered not only for his steadfast faith and commitment to his community but also for the warmth and love he exuded towards those around him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Jones (Allen); his son, Jonathan Nance (Monika); and his stepson, Stephen David Teague (Paula).

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hilda Nance; his parents, Junior David and Anna Smith Nance; and his son, Roger Dale Nance. He was also preceded by his siblings, Betty Ledford, Jack Nance, Judy Pressley, Clyde Nance, Les Nance, Bobby Nance, Dorothy Killian, Sue Frye, and Roy "Shorty" Nance.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. The funeral service will be in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 3:00 pm. Burial will in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rev. Brett Carver will officiate. Dillon Setzer, Jacob Nance, Will Nance, Masson Nance, David Byrd, and Josh Baker will serve as pallbearers.
