Doris Wike Jenkins,

Doris Earp Wike Jenkins, age 93, of Taylorsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Taylorsville House. She was born in Alexander County on February 24, 1921 to the late Clete Earp and Jennie Lail Earp. Doris was retired from Schneider Mills. She was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church and she enjoyed gatherings of family and friends on Lake Hickory for cookouts, as well as crocheting gifts for her family. Along with her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Rayford Wike, as well as her second husband, Clayton Jenkins; daughter: Lorrie Wike; two infant brothers; and sisters: Alma Milstead, Amelia Hollifield, Margie Deal, and Pauline Murdock. Those left to cherish her memory include daughters: Gaynell Wike Harrington (Raymond) of Taylorsville, Elaine Wike Dagenhart (Harold) of Taylorsville, and Noel Wike Kerley (Jeff) of Taylorsville; stepson: Lee Jenkins (Kathy) of Cary, NC; stepdaughters: Sarah J. Lail (Gary) of Bethlehem, and Jan J. Austin (Perry) of Taylorsville; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; brothers: Billy Earp (Lucille) of Bethlehem and Paul Dean Earp (Mary) of Hiddenite; and sister: Lillian Queen of Taylorsville.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. The service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jamie Steele and Rev. Gary Jennings officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Taylorsville City Cemetery.
