Dorothy H. Walker, age 87, of Taylorsville House, graduated to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 14, 2015. She had been ill for an extended period and seriously ill for two weeks.
Mrs. Walker was born February 4, 1928 to the late Roy Glenn and Bertha Mae Childers Hendren. She was married to the late James Benjamin (Ben) Walker on December 24, 1951 and they were happily married for 54 years. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her brothers; Graydon, and Ralph Hendren, and sisters; Ruby Elder, and Mable Dagenhart.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sherry Walker White and husband Terry, her son, Rev. Neal Walker and wife Lisa, grandchildren, Ally, Erin Walker, John White, and Maddie Walker, her sisters; Betty Wilcox, and Glenna Hendren. Mrs. Walker was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walker was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, who was saved, loved the Lord, and her family.
The family will receive friends at Poplar Springs Baptist Church 4710 All Healing Springs Rd. Taylorsville, NC 28681 on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm. Mrs. Walker's funeral will be held immediately following at 4:00 pm at the church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John White, Kevin White, Ray Earp, Larry Elder, Kevin Johnson, and Cory Presnell. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rick Safriet, and Rev. Allen Fox.
Mrs. Walker's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful care she received from the excellent caregivers of the Taylorsville House and Alexander County Hospice.
