Douglas Reid Hefner, age 60, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. He was born on Monday, April 22, 1963, to the late Sam Edward “S.E.” Hefner Jr. and Emilie Reid Hefner in Catawba County. Mr. Hefner proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. Douglas attended Dudley Shoals Baptist Church and enjoyed reading his Bible. He enjoyed fishing, riding four wheelers and side by sides, mowing, tinkering, and was an avid gun collector. Douglas loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Edward Hefner.
Those left to cherish the memories of Douglas include his sons, Ethan Hefner (Lauryn), Seth Hefner (Lauren); loving companion, Patsy Chambers; siblings, Sandra Keller (Scott), Jeffrey Hefner, (Vickie), Yvonne Hefner; five grandchildren, Emma Hefner, Grayson Hefner, Sloane Hefner, Harper Hefner, Noah Hefner; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
A visitation will be Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Kyle Lloyd and Rev. Mike Mathes a.k.a. Cornbread will officiate.
