Edith Wallace "Babe" Deal, age 79, of Taylorsville, passed away at Frye Regional Med. Ct. on Thurs. Jan. 22, 2015. Born on Dec. 6, 1935, to the late Herman Parks and Mozelle Francis Hubbard Wallace in Wilkes Co., she was retired from Rock Tenn Corp. in Taylorsville. Mrs. Deal was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church and was known for her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed yard sales and gospel music, but especially her grandchildren. She was famous for her chicken and dumplings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Clyde Wallace, as well as four sisters, Ruth Allen, Bernice Baker, Gaynell Decker, and Sue Braswell.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John B. Deal of the home. One daughter, Cathy Campbell and husband Tony of Taylorsville, a son, Davey D. Deal and wife Nancy, also of Taylorsville. Edith has three grandchildren, Shane Russell of Hiddenite, Allison Clonch and husband Thomas, Brandon Deal and wife Larissa, all of Taylorsville. She has one great grandchild, Page Deal of Taylorsville. She has two brothers, Junior Wallace of Taylorsville, and Everett Wallace of Hiddenite, along with three sisters, Graceteen "Teen" Childers, Kay Roberts and husband Billy, and Dianne Williams and husband Bobby, all of Taylorsville. She has a number of nieces and nephews. She had two special friends and caregivers, Martha Jones and Karen Martin.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, from 2:30-3:45 p.m. at East Taylorsville Baptist Church, with funeral services at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Rev. Jamie Steel and Rev. Gary W. Jennings will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylorsville City Cemetery, and pallbearers will be, Darren, Shannon and Caleb Roberts, Tony Pope, Brad Campbell, Brandon Deal, Thomas Clonch, and Michael Wallace.
