After several years of declining health, Effie Murphy White went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. She was born in Ramseytown, NC on January 1, 1950, to the late Conway and Dona Murphy.
She was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church. Before her health failed, she worked at Southern Devices for many years. She worked in the furniture industry, high school cafeteria, and was a wonderful caregiver. Effie was a hard worker, dependable, kind, and compassionate. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers, one infant sister, her brothers, Gene and Ronald Murphy, her brother-in-law, Dennis Huskins, and her longtime friend, Charles Little.
Those left to cherish Effie’s memory are her sister, Dorothy Huskins of Burnsville, NC, her brother, Darrell Murphy (Undean) of Green Mountain, NC, her sister, Edith Bennett of Erwin, TN, and a number of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Liledoun Baptist Church from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Liledoun Baptist Church at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Jason Payne and Rev. James Bumgarner will officiate. Travis Murphy, Jody Murphy, Kyle Bennett, Todd Bennett, Jason Bennett, and Carter Bennett will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Liledoun Baptist Church, 2628 Liledoun Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Rev. Jason Payne, the members of Liledoun Baptist Church, the staff at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Valley Nursing Center, and Gordon Hospice House.
