Ernest Monroe Webster Sr., age. 79, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated family man, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Catawba County. He was born on Friday, May 25, 1945, in Alexander County, where he began a life full of passion, labor, and love.
As the owner and operator of Ernest Webster Furniture Frames, he made significant contributions to his craft and earned the respect of his peers. Known for his remarkable woodworking skills, Ernest excelled not only in his professional undertakings but also brought joy to those around him through his many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, tinkering with cars, hunting, fishing, and gardening—each pursuit showcasing his diverse talents and zest for life. A man of the Baptist faith, he leaves behind a legacy characterized by his love for family, friends, and the many pets who enriched his life, particularly his dog Jenny and his beloved cats.
A devoted family man, Ernest treasured his family deeply. He is survived by two children, Robin Webster Gant (John) and Ernest "Monnie" Webster Jr. (Rhonda Hall Henley), along with his grandchild, Courtney Willow Gant, who will carry forward his legacy. He shared a bond with his brother, Kenneth Roger Webster (Sue), and brother-in-law, Thomas Patterson, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Ernest was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Elata Patterson Webster, who stood by his side throughout life's journey. He is also preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Webster and Betty Chapman Webster, as well as siblings Jerry, Johnny, and Jimmy Webster, and sister Betty Ann Warren.
A graveside service to honor Ernest's life will be held at Harrington Family Cemetery Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Rhett Miller will officiate.
The family will accept flowers, or memorials may be made to the humane society of your choice.
Ernest will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his warm-hearted nature, and the love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, forever cherished and honored.
