Esther Staines Kyker,

Esther Winifred Staines Kyker, age 78, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday evening, May 29, 2014 at Valley Nursing Center. She was born in Albany, NY on July 24, 1935 to the late Urwin Staines and Margaret Betzold Staines. Esther was retired from a bookkeeper at Valley Equipment in Jonesboro, TN. She was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church, the Singing Seniors and a pianist. Esther was also a caregiver and sitter for many in the community after she retired from bookkeeping. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Carl Kyker; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and a grandson: Dennis Paul Patterson. Those left to cherish her memory include daughter: Darlene Patterson and husband John Jr. of the home; sister: Dot Revel and husband Albert (Al) of Canada; sister-in-law: Joyce Staines of Albien, NY; grandchildren: John Patterson III and wife Melissa of Taylorsville, Nicole Whitmire and husband Jason of Brevard, Nathan Patterson and wife Ashlee of Taylorsville and Vanessa Patterson of Taylorsville; daughter-in-law: Mahala Patterson of Taylorsville; great grandchildren: Logan Patterson, Tucker, Luke, and Gloria Whitmire, Maddison and Joy Patterson, Angel and Julia Patrick, Mason Lackey, and Laney Patterson; and a special life-long friend: Katherine Brewington.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. The service will occur at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Jamie Steele officiating. The burial will be held at New Victory Methodist cemetery in Telford, TN. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association: PO Box 96011; Washington, DC 20090-6011.
