Ethel Jones Hamby,

Ethel Gaynel Jones Hamby, age 91 of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Avante at Wilkesboro Nursing Home.  Born to the late Sam Hill and Effie (Edminston) Jones in Ferguson, NC on March 18, 1921, she enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, and cooking.  Prior to retirement, Ms. Hamby has worked in the Textile industry.  She was a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, those that have preceded Ms. Hamby in death are her husband T.W. "Coot"  Hamby; one daughter Reba Hamby Eller; one son Moody Dale Hamby; and one special niece Sue Fincannon Sims.  Those remaining to cherish her memory are three sons:  Sam Jones Hamby of Wilkesboro,  William Hamby and wife, Jennifer of N. Wilkesboro; and Junior Hamby and wife, Shelia of Boomer.  Five grandchildren:  Jodi Hamby Skabo and husband, Chris; Tommy Eller and wife, Jennifer; Derek Hamby and wife, Ashley; Brandon Hamby and wife, Cheryl; and Staci Hamby Pugh and husband, Donnie.  She also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 12 at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.  A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at 11:00 am at  Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Hwy 421-North, in Wilkesboro, NC.  Rev. Jim Gore will officiate.   Memorials may be made to Avante at Wilkesboro, 1000 College Street, Wilkesboro, NC  28697.
