Eva Curtis Harbinson,

Eva Gilliam Curtis Harbinson, age 96, of Hickory, passed away on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at Brian’s Center Viewmont.  She was born in Caldwell County on April 26th, 1915 to parents P.G. and Lundia Lowman Gilliam.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed baking pies and cakes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, William Howard Curtis; her 2nd husband, Yates Harbinson Sr.; son, George William Curtis; daughter, Melva Curtis Starnes; 3 brothers: Carl, Ralph, and Ed Gilliam; her sister: Annabelle Gilliam Marler; and her granddaughter, Derra Lynn Curtis.  Those left to cherish her memory include her son, J.L. (Jacob Lewis) Curtis; 6 grandchildren: Renee’ Curtis Detter & husband Rick, Lynn Curtis Rogers & husband Cecil, Tony Lewis Curtis, Amy Curtis Teague & husband Nelson, Darrell Curtis Starnes & wife Jackie, Wesley Howard Starnes & wife Sandy; 7 great-grandchildren: Mandy Detter Crooks, Lyndsey Detter, Allegra Erin Rogers, Zack Starnes, Hannah Starnes, Abby Starnes, and Leah Starnes; and also 1 great-great grandson: Landon Roger Crooks.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 atGatewayBaptistChurch inNewton from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. at the church where Rev. Jerome Walker will officiate.  A private committal will follow with the family.  J.L., Tony, & Lynn Curtis, Nelson Teague, Zack Starnes, and Rick Detter will serve as pallbearers.  In addition to flowers, memorials may be made toGraceBaptistChurch @ P.O.
