Eva Mae Church Welborn, age 95, of Taylorsville, and formerly of Purlear; our loving mother, went home to be with the Lord on November 15th, 2010. She was born on April 25th, 1915 in Wilkes County to parents Tom and Plinar Woodie Church. Ms. Welborn was a member of Yellow Hill Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, (mawmaw), and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Welborn; a son, James W. Welborn; sister, Hettie Hayworth; and 2 half-brothers: T.L. Church and Cecil C. Church. Survivors include: 4 daughters, Helen Parlier and Kay Bowman of Hickory, Vetra Bowman of Bethlehem, and Frances ”Dean” Wike of Granite Falls; 2 sons: Burl Welborn of Clemmons, and Randy Welborn of Mooresville; 9 grandchildren: Judy Current of W. Jefferson, Timothy Welborn of Lewisville. Cynthia Thomas of East Bend, Dr. Joy Bowman Evans of Bethlehem, Brian Bowman of Bethlehem, Amber Wike of Charlotte, Amanda Pope of Taylorsville, and Bridget Welborn of Richmond, Va. and Heather Welborn of Ashville; 10 great-grandchildren, brother: Lawrence Church of Purlear, 4 half-sisters: Zora Mae Richardson of Lewisville, Virginia Reed of Oakwood, GA, Cora Lee Moretz of Franklin, and Dorothy Swift of Deep Gap; and 1 half-brothers, Bobby Church of Pfafftown. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Yellow Hill Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the church where burial will also follow.
